

Nourishing Needham is a week-long, community based initiative designed to raise awareness about the connection between food intake and human and environmental health. This pilot program partners with local food establishments to highlight healthy menu options that meet specific dietitian-approved nutrition criteria.
Nutrition Criteria
To qualify to participate in the Nourishing Needham program, restaurants must serve at least two healthy menu options that meet the following nutrition criteria.
Entrees (or full meals) must include one of the following:

Lean proteins (i.e. chicken, fish, tofu, beans)

Small amounts of heart healthy fats/dressings

100% whole grains (i.e. breads, brown rice, oats, quinoa)

Unsweetened or low fat dairy

At least one serving of fruit or vegetable

None of the food items may be deep fried.
